Victoria-based pan-asian noodle house, appropriately named “The Noodle Box,” is opening soon in downtown Vancouver.

The new location will be located in the Atelier condo tower at Robson St. and Homer St. (833 Homer St.)

The Noodle Box already has a very popular location in Kitsilano on West 4th Ave., now downtown residents will be able to enjoy the popular restaurant without crossing a bridge.

Founded in 2001 using a retrofitted hot dog cart on the streets of Victoria, this will be their fifth location. There are three in Victoria.

The Homer St. location should be open late this Spring.

Burrard Street Bike Lane trial here to stay

The Burrard Bridge bike lane is a trial no more. Yesterday, Vancouver City Council unanimously approved making the bike lane permanent. As reported here yesterday, the bike lane has already seen 1 million cyclists since it opened last summer.

The current concrete barriers will be removed and a more ashetically pleasing barrier will be installed, likely planter boxes or polls to seperate cyclists from traffic, similar to what was done on the Dunsmuir Street bike lane.

Council also approved $2 million dollars for structural work on the bridge, to begin this fall.

Burrard Bridge Bike Lane: 1 million riders strong

The City of Vancouver is declaring the Burrard Bridge bike lane a success.

The millionth cyclist since the bike lane trial began in July 2009 crossed the bridge just after 10 pm Wednesday night.  This morning, city officials were out on the bridge handing out t-shirts to cyclists in celebration of the millionth rider.

Approximentely 6,000 bike trips are being made over the bridge per day this week. During peak hours, between 500-800 cyclists cross the bridge every hour.
