Meinhardt Arbutus auction

The Arbutus Street location of fine food retailer Meinhardt is closing up shop today, December 24.

The Arbutus location only opened two years ago amid lots of optimism for the company’s future, as you can read in this Vancouver Sun article from 2008.

As of today, only the Granville Street location remains. Interestingly, the Sun article indicates Meinhardt signed a 25-year lease for the property, so not sure how that is going to work out.

The building and the adjacent theatre and bowling lanes are slated for re-development according to the City of Vancouver planning department.

Maynard’s is auctioning off the store’s fixtures and equipment on January 8, 2011, so if you’re looking for a commercial meat display unit, act fast!
